So when mum asks you how you knew to look in on her, you will be able to say “a little birdy told me”.

For family and carers

AbiBird is a motion sensor which is placed in your loved one's home to give you peace of mind knowing they are okay. Automatic alerts help prevent needless worrying about your loved one.

AbiBird is user-friendly, unobtrusive, and does not need to be worn or charged.

The 4 AA batteries last up to a year, and the smartphone app sends alerts when they are running low.

We were lucky this time, but will Mum have another fall?

It was their mum, Grace’s nasty fall that prompted a family conference: “would Grace be better off in a care home?” This time there was no lasting damage, and Grace recovered well, but she may not be so lucky next time. The chances of another fall, or worse, had to be recognized. Grace was fiercely against moving. She wasn’t ready to give up her lovely home. AbiBird provided the balance between independence and being minded, and gave her family the reassurance that Grace would be okay.

Nerida can check on her elderly aunt unobtrusively.

Nerida obtained an AbiBird for her beloved elderly aunt Gloria who often did not answer her phone calls. Her aunt Gloria would tell Nerida she was going to the shops in the morning, and later in the day when Nerida called there would be no answer. Concerned, Nerida would drive to her aunt’s home to find that her aunt was fine. AbiBird gave Nerida the peace of mind she needed as the smartphone app would show that her aunt was safely at home and moving about.

A change in daily activity identifies a health problem.

Vesna and her mum had been using AbiBird for several months when Vesna noticed a change in her mum’s night-time activities. The activity graph on her AbiBird app showed her mum’s night visits to the bathroom had more than doubled. A visit to her doctor identified the cause was Mum’s new medication and he prescribed an alternative. Normal sleep returned.

For independent living

AbiBird enables people to live independently in their own homes for longer. It provides a sense of safety and peace of mind as it will alert your loved ones should you be unable to move or call for help.

The AbiBird is simple to use, does not need to be worn or charged, and you can even forget it's there.

With AbiBird, you’ll never feel alone.

scenarios.

01

Grace wasn’t alone.

Grace slipped in the shower and couldn’t get up. With no-one else in the house and her immediate neighbours at work, how was she to get help? It was comforting to know that her AbiBird in the living room would let her family know that she wasn’t moving about as usual. One of them would call and be around to check on her soon. She felt reassured that she wasn’t alone.

02

Living safely and independently in her own home.

Brenda and her beloved dog had lived in the same home for years. She wasn’t as active as she used to be and when her son moved inter-state, he suggested she think about going into care or getting some help. Brenda was still volunteering and enjoyed taking part in community activities, valuing her independence which she wasn’t ready to give up. AbiBird gave both Brenda and her son the solution as he could keep an eye on her from inter-state with the smartphone app.

03

If something happened, how long would it take for someone to know?

Retired long-time friends Denise, Carol and Maria all lived on their own. As the years passed, they all became more aware of each other’s health concerns. Maria struggled with her joints occasionally, and both Denise and Carol had worrying family health histories. When Carol asked one day: “If something happened to you, how long would it take for someone to find you?”, the friends agreed to get AbiBird to keep an eye on each other.
